AllaQuix® Lite | Calcium Alginate Dressing
Frequently Asked Questions
What is AllaQuix® Lite?
AllaQuix® Lite is a calcium alginate wound dressing designed to help stop bleeding quickly and promote healing. It’s soft, flexible, and ideal for minor cuts, scrapes, lacerations, and wounds with moderate to heavy exudate.
What is calcium alginate?
Calcium alginate is a highly absorbent, plant-based material that forms a gel when in contact with blood or wound fluid. This gel helps seal the wound, maintain a moist healing environment, and support faster recovery. AllaQuix® Lite uses 100% medical-grade calcium alginate.
How does AllaQuix® Lite work?
When applied to a bleeding wound, AllaQuix® Lite absorbs blood and fluids, forming a soft gel barrier. This gel helps control bleeding and supports a moist wound environment for optimal healing.
Who should use AllaQuix® Lite?
AllaQuix® Lite is safe for all ages and is especially helpful for:
- People on blood thinners (anticoagulants)
- Individuals with bleeding disorders like hemophilia
- Those with thin or fragile skin
It’s an ideal addition to home first aid kits, school clinics, workplaces, and emergency supplies.
How do I apply and remove the gauze?
Apply the pad directly to the wound and apply gentle pressure for 2–3 minutes. Secure with a bandage or with AllaQuix® Wrapid Cohesive Wrap. To remove, soak with clean water or saline and gently lift. Do not leave in place for more than 24 hours without checking the wound.
Can AllaQuix® Lite be used for nosebleeds?
While AllaQuix® Lite is designed for external skin wounds, it is not recommended for nasal use. For nosebleeds, we suggest using a product specifically made for that purpose, such as AllaQuix® Nose Bleed.
Does AllaQuix® Lite cause burning or stinging?
No. AllaQuix® Lite is designed for comfort — it causes no burning or stinging sensations and is safe for use on sensitive skin.
Are there any precautions?
Yes. Please note the following:
- Do not use on dry wounds (works best with moderate to heavy exudate)
- Not for surgical implantation
- Remove the dressing within 7 days
- Individuals with alginate sensitivity should avoid use
Always consult a healthcare provider if you have concerns or if the wound shows signs of infection.
