What makes a calcium alginate bandage different?
A regular adhesive bandage is a pad and some glue. It keeps dirt out and does nothing else. A calcium alginate bandage carries an active dressing in the middle of it. When the pad meets blood and wound fluid, calcium ions exchange with sodium in the blood and the fibres turn into a soft gel across the wound surface. That gel holds moisture against the wound, which is the condition wounds heal fastest in, and gives a slow-stopping cut something to seal against.

HOW TO USE THEM
Clean. Cover. Leave it alone.
Rinse and pat dry
Clean water is enough. Skip peroxide and alcohol, both damage healing cells.
Apply the bandage
Centre the pad over the cut and press the adhesive down on all four sides.
Give it time
Press for a minute if it is still bleeding, then leave it. Change daily, or sooner if wet.

How is this different from a normal adhesive bandage?
A normal bandage covers a cut. AllaQuix® Lite carries a medical-grade calcium alginate pad that reacts with blood and wound fluid, turning into a gel that holds moisture at the wound and helps it seal. You get the convenience of a bandage with an active dressing in the middle.
What is calcium alginate made from?
Calcium alginate is plant-derived, extracted from brown seaweed. It is drug-free, hypoallergenic, and widely used in clinical wound care for absorbency and its gelling action.
Which size should I buy?
The 1 × 1 inch variety box of 30 covers the everyday cuts: fingers, knuckles, shaving nicks. The 2 × 2 inch box of 10 is for larger or slower-stopping cuts where you want more pad. Many people keep both, the variety box in the bathroom and the large in the kitchen.
Can I use them if I take a blood thinner?
Yes, and they are a good fit. Warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, and daily aspirin all lengthen how long a cut bleeds. A calcium alginate pad gives that cut something to seal against. For deeper cuts, AllaQuix® High-Performance chitosan gauze works independently of the clotting cascade.
How long can I leave one on?
Change the bandage daily, or sooner if it becomes wet, dirty, or loose. If the pad has fully gelled and the cut has stopped, you can replace it with a lighter cover.
Are they latex-free?
Yes. AllaQuix® Lite bandages are latex-free and hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive, thin, or older skin.
