Adhesive gauze pad or gauze and tape?
A plain gauze pad needs tape to stay put, and the tape often lands closer to the wound than you'd like. An adhesive gauze pad (also called an island dressing or bordered gauze) builds the border in, so the pad stays centered and only the border touches skin.
AllaQuix® Basic is professional medical-grade and highly absorbent, with a non-adherent pad that won't stick to the wound. It's the same design used on hospital units and in clinics, sold by the box for home and by the case for facilities.
Why people switch to adhesive pads
- One step to apply, one step to remove
- The pad stays centered over the wound
- No tape on the wound edges
- Sterile and individually wrapped, so you open only what you use
- Breathable, soft and flexible
- Pain free removal

The dressing size isn't the pad size
Adhesive gauze pads are sold by the outside dimensions, including the border. A 4 × 4 adhesive pad has a 2 × 2 inch absorbent pad in the middle. Pick the size by the pad: it should cover the whole wound, with the border on healthy skin.
Pad sizes at a glance

FAQ
Questions about adhesive gauze pads
Is an adhesive gauze pad the same as an island dressing?
Yes. Adhesive gauze pad, island dressing, bordered gauze and adhesive island dressing all describe the same design: an absorbent pad surrounded by an adhesive border.
Are AllaQuix® Basic adhesive gauze pads sterile?
Yes. Every dressing is sterile, individually wrapped and latex-free.
Will the pad stick to the wound?
AllaQuix® Basic uses a non-adherent pad designed not to stick to the wound, with pain free removal. If a dressing does stick after drainage dries, dampen it with clean water before lifting.
What are adhesive gauze pads used for?
Incision sites, IV catheter sites, cuts and lacerations, light to moderate draining wounds, and covering or securing devices and other dressings.
How many come in a box?
The small, 4 × 4 and 4 × 6 come 50 to a box. The 4 × 14 comes 25 to a box. Every size is also sold by the case.
